Lewiston Police Department
Shoulder Patch & Badge

This is the shoulder patch of the Lewiston Police Department.

The portion in the center of the patch is the insignia for the City of Lewiston.

This is the Lewiston Police K-9 Officer Patch.

Lewiston Police Department is well known for the shape of its distinctive Patrol Officers badge.

The badge pictured to the right is a modification of that badge designed by Lt. David Chamberlain.

It is inscribed with the numbers of the only two Lewiston Police Officers that have been killed in the line of duty.

The #45 memorializes Off. Paul J. Simard and the #66 memorializes Off. David R. Payne.

Lewiston Police Commemorative Badge
This modified badge appears on the patrol cars and in places throughout the Lewiston Police Dept., serving as a perpetual reminder of the sacrifice these two Officers made.

The badge numbers of these two Officer's were retired, meaning their numbers will never be used again. The actual badges these Officers wore were placed on memorial plaques which are displayed in the lobby of the Lewiston Police Station. For more details about these two Officers visit the LPD Memorial Page.
