Intensive Case Manager Program

In the year 2000, the Lewiston Police Department announced the inception of a new, joint venture between the Department of Mental Health and Retardation and the Lewiston Police.  The Intensive Case Manager Program was developed to provide intervention and assessment to those people who may be in various levels and phases of crisis or conflict.

Laurie Cyr-Martel was named as the Liaison with the Police Department.  Laurie rides with officers during the night shift, assisting with persons who display characteristics of people in crisis.  These situations may include emotionally disturbed persons, suicidal and/or homicidal individuals, those with chronic mental illness, substance abusers, victims of various abuse, domestic violence, victims of crimes and accidents.

The Intensive Case Manager responds with law enforcement  officers through out the city to determine and address immediate and/or emergency needs and ascertain appropriate action.

This joint venture helps the Lewiston Police Department bring the necessary assistance to those in our city who may need some special care to get through a particular crisis.
