Mark E. Day

Mark E. Day, 32, a resident of 176 Rosedale Street, and a Lewiston police officer died unexpectedly Sunday morning at his residence.

He was born in Brunswick, June 8, 1968, the son of Lawrence and Sandra (Morse) Day. He had been a resident of this community for the past five years serving as a police officer for the city of Lewiston. He attended Sanford and
Arundel schools, and was a 1986 graduate of Sanford High School. He attended SMTC and was a 1994 graduate of Northeastern University in Boston, with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He was also a graduate of the Maine Criminal Justice Academy in Waterville.

Upon graduating from Northeastern, he was hired by the Lewiston Police Department. While on the Lewiston Police force, Officer Day served as a field training officer, and was vice president of the local police union. He was also
employed part time by the Androscoggin Sheriff’s Department. He was also honored, being chosen to serve as a security officer at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.

His hobbies included camping and motorcycle riding, but most of all hi greatest joy was his profession with the Lewiston Police Department. 

Survivors include his father, Lawrence, of Portland, and his mother Sandra of South Portland; his maternal grandfather, Richard Morse of Phippsburg, and one brother, Michael Day of Rumford.
